Prime Minister’s Science Prizes to be announced

The 2014 Prime Minister’s Science Prizes will be presented  on Tuesday, 2 December.

The Prizes, which recognise scientific achievement in five categories, have a total of $1 million in prize money. The prizes aim to lift the profile and prestige of science, highlight the contribution science makes to New Zealand’s economy and encourage students and future generations into scientific endeavours.

Entries for $1 million science prizes close soon

Nominations for the 2014 Prime Minister’s Science Prizes close in early August, giving established and emerging New Zealand research teams and scientists three weeks to complete their entries for the country’s most valuable science awards.

Now in their sixth year, the five prizes are designed to raise the profile and prestige of science and to recognise talented scientists who are working on projects that are of real benefit to New Zealand. In total, they award $1 million. Read more…
