Sir Paul Callaghan was farewelled by a large number of family, friends and dignitaries in Wellington yesterday.

Sir Paul had a huge influence on public debate around science in New Zealand, and was known internationally for his work in the field of Molecular Physics.

Sir Paul Callaghan was the team representative for the MRI Innovation group which won the 2010 Prime Minister’s Science Prize , and a video of him talking about the team’s win is linked here.

The Prime Minister’s Science Prize secretariat were very honoured to meet Sir Paul. We wish to recognise his enormous influence in the science community, and his boundless energy and enthusiasm for not only science, but for New Zealand as a whole.
