The Prime Minister’s MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize
About the Prize

This Prize is for an outstanding emerging scientist undertaking research for a PhD or within five years of the date of the award of their PhD.

The Prime Minister’s MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize is worth $200,000 to the recipient.

Selection for 2010

Nomination forms for this Prize will be posted on 26 March 2010.

In 2009 the award winner was the 2009 MacDiarmid Young Scientist of the Year: John Watt.

Expectations

$150,000 of the Prize is to be used to support their on-going work. A plan for the use of this funding will be required.

$50,000 of the Prize money is available to the recipient with no expectations on its use.

The recipient of the Prize would be expected to be involved in promotional opportunities appropriate to receiving The Prime Minister’s MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize.
